LEFT: Handmade pillow for Bris. This is washable and made from 100% cotton. The milah blessing is hand painted. The butterfly represents the FREEDOM we hope this child will have to stand up for what is right. The peace dove represents PEACE. The appliqueed pomegranate has approximately 613 French knots for seeds representing the 613 mitzvot. The pillow can be personalized. Marilyn will be pleased to create that special Bris Pillow for your little guy, or the pillowcase to your left may be rented to you for that special day if you live in Southern Ontario. All rental fees are donated to The Toronto Pomegranate Guild of Judaic Textiles.

for BRIT MILAH and young children
WIMPELS
Wimpel is a tradition that started several hundred years ago. The blanket in which the baby was wrapped for his Bris was cut into strips, and embroidered with his name, date of birth, a blessing. As he passed through and celebrated each Jewish life cycle event, that event was embroidered onto his wimpel. For his Bar Mitzvah, the Torah was wrapped in his wimpel and that event was embroidered as well. At his wedding, the wimpel adorned the chuppah.
Today, some folks create them for daughters, too, upon their baby namings.
The fabric can be beautiful silk, good quality cotton, or cut up receiving blankets that the baby has used.
Wrap the baby in approx 2 Metres/yards of white/pale blue/your colour choice of 100% cotton quilting cotton or 100% silk dupioni silk or silk noile for Brit Milah or Babynaming. Send Marilyn the fabric and she will fashion a beautiful wimpel to commemmorate the baby's birth, babynaming, brit milah and other Jewish Life Cycle Events(to be added later) . The wimpel will wrap the Torah at his/her Bar/Bat Mitzvah and decorate his/her Chuppah. Contact Marilyn to plan a special wimpel for your special baby/child.
LEFT: Baby-sized tallit (19" x 20") or child-sized(9" x 35") with coordinating kippah for Brit Milah and accompanying parents and grandparents to services. Usually, Marilyn has one in stock that can be couriered in time for the Brit Milah.
